Minx Girl of the Month Pru Simpson has been addicted to MINX ever since arriving in New Zealand from the UK as the result of marrying a local Te Horo man. Pru has become a regular in our Otaki store along with her 4 delightful little ones aged from 12 months to 6 years old.

Did you realise that today is officially 'Red Shoes Day' in Wellington New Zealand?
Yep, it's true! .jpg) I only found out about yesterday but I think it's brilliant ... Red Shoes Day is always the third Friday in June ... and it is today, Girls, Friday, 17 June 2011! The theory is ... "that wearing red shoes never fails to give you a bounce, an inner smile, a certain view on the world that dismisses the weather and knows it can be sunny inside" - to quote from the official Red Shoes Day website. The organisers say, "June in New Zealand is grey, wet and very wintry and the Wellington CBD is awash with the black and grey colours of winter clothing ... in June we all need some colour, some fun and a lot of cheering up. We wanted to help and came up with the idea of donating five dollars from every pair of shoes we sold during March.  I didn’t actually set out to test these lovely little urban casual style lace-ups: I was just wearing them because they are comfortable and I like them.
I just needed something comfortable to wear on a 3km walk through some beautiful Kiwi bush with some friends. It was, in fact, the Dept. of Conservation’s W2K track between Taupo and Kinloch. A fantastic walking track I can whole-heartedly recommend to anyone who loves walking through New Zealand native bush because the scenery is really stunning.

 I am in China right now ( although I’ll probably be back by the time you read this ) on a “fact-finding” tour to check out production methods along with materials used to produce some of the fabulous shoes we sell at Minx Shoes.
China is in the midst of a huge explosion of capitalism! Much to the dismay of some of the old leadership, I suppose, but since ancient times the Chinese have excelled at commerce. Once Deng Xiaoping took his proverbial finger out of the communist dike back in the late seventies and early eighties he unleashed and unstoppable torrent of “pent-up entrepreneurialism” that is set to change the world: like it or not.

Well, what an amazing weekend we had at the Women’s Lifestyle Expo Wellington… a pity that it ended with a car crash and poor Michelle getting whiplash. Firstly, I’ll tell you a bit about my experience at the hugely busy ‘Women’s Lifestyle Expo’ held on Sat 7 and Sun 8 August in Wellington recently.
